Anointed and commissioned by Christ, to rescue, reclaim, reconcile and restore all people for His name's sake.
Vision
To proclaim verbally, authentically and boldly the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the poor, unfortunate and all who live in the inner city of Compton and the world. To foster community development through meeting human needs- including spiritual, physical, educational and economic. To develop indigenous leadership in the community through spiritual, vocational and economic training. To develop strong family units in the community through pastoral care, counseling and discipleship. To join together with other Christians creating a strong network to minister to the needs of inner city people in a wholistic manner from a local church in the community. To provide lasting reconciliation across racial, cultural, social, economic and other barriers by coming together as a diverse group in work, worship and shared lives as the body of Christ.
History
In 1924 First Christian Church began to hold services in the city of Compton, CA. April, 2018, marks the 94th year of God working through the ministry that was birthed in a prayer meeting. Over the years the city has changed. The congregation has transformed. We have had several ministers leading the flock. Even though these things are true, what has never changed is God's presence in our worship.
